Rocky Mountaineer buys Kamloops hotel for staff accommodation
Invictus Properties has acquired Scott’s Inn and Restaurant in Kamloops.
It's the same company that owns Rocky Mountaineer and is part of the Armstrong Group of companies.
The train company has been a partner with the inn for many years as train staff uses the inn as primary accommodation, according to a Invictus Properties media release.
“We are proud to continue our investment in Kamloops with this acquisition of the Scott’s Inn and Restaurant,” president and CEO of Armstrong Group Tristan Armstrong said in the release. “Kamloops is truly at the heart of our company and we look forward to continuing to deliver tangible, positive impacts in this community where our team lives, works and operates.”
Rocky Mountaineer’s maintenance facility is located in Kamloops and the tourist train employs roughly 80 workers. Kamloops is the mid-point stop on two of the rail routes.
The hotel will be used exclusively for the Rocky Mountaineer team during the operating season between April and October each year.
“Rocky Mountaineer has been a strong partner in the Kamloops area for over 30 years,” Tourism Kamloops CEO Monica Dickinson said in the release. “We are thrilled by this further investment of Invictus Properties in our hospitality industry and the benefits it will bring to both visitors and community members.”
Scott’s existing hotel and restaurant operations teams will remain in place.
