A 64-year-old Penticton man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a car on the Channel Parkway this afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the collision at the intersection of the Channel Parkway and Green Mountain Road at around 12:22 p.m. today, Sept. 15, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP say a Volkswagen was travelling north on the Channel Parkway and turned left onto Green Mountain Road. The Yamaha motorcycle was travelling southbound on the parkway through the intersection when the vehicles collided.

The 64-year-old man was thrown from the bike and died at the scene. The 40-year-old Penticton man driving the Volkswagen wasn’t hurt.

RCMP say there is no indication a crime was committed.

Several lanes of traffic are closed in the area and are expected to reopen by 5:30 p.m.
