Pedestrian hit and killed on Highway 97 in Lake Country
A pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver in Lake Country Sunday morning.
Lake Country RCMP were called to Highway 97 between Pelmewash Parkway and Wall Road around 10:30 a.m. March 2, according to a press release from police.
A single pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and the driver stayed a the scene while the victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital. they later succumbed to their injuries.
“This portion of highway was closed temporarily to allow for an RCMP collision analyst to attend and collect the necessary data,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in the release.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
“If any members of the public witnessed or have dash camera footage of the collision and have not yet spoken with police, we are asking them to please come forward and contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288 while referencing file number 2025-11063,” Cpl. Gauthier said.
