Pedestrian dies after being hit on Enderby crosswalk
A 62-year-old Enderby man has died after being hit on a crosswalk on Highway 97a.
According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, the man was hit crossing at Canyon Road, between the Esso gas station and the Enderby Flea Market, at around noon, July 1.
"Frontline officers, along with personnel from the BC Ambulance Service, attended the scene of the crash and, despite the efforts of bystanders and the BC Ambulance Service, the 62-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on scene," the release states.
The RCMP says a vehicle was travelling north on the highway when it hit the man in the marked crosswalk.
A 60-year-old Vernon resident was the lone occupant of the vehicle and remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.
"The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, Vernon RCMP Corp. Tania Finn said in the release.
Police say the collision remains under investigation.
