A man in his 40s died after he was hit by a truck in downtown Kamloops on Saturday.

He was taken to hospital Saturday evening in critical condition, but later succumbed to his injuries, according to Kamloops RCMP.

“The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with this ongoing investigation," Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

Police responded to the 200 block of Victoria Street West around 7:20 p.m., Oct. 15, where the man was hit by a truck while crossing the street.

Police have so far surveyed the scene, spoken with witnesses and reviewed video footage of the collision, Evelyn said.

Kamloops RCMP continues to investigate, but has not said whether any criminal charges are being considered yet.

— This story was corrected at 8:08 a.m., Oct. 18, 2022, to say the collision was on Victoria Street West, not Victoria Street.
