A 44-year-old woman died at the scene after a collision with a pickup truck on the Trans-Canada Highway in Rogers Pass.

The woman, from Golden, was driving a Jeep Cherokee eastbound on the highway and "failed to navigate" a right-hand bend in the road, according to a BC RCMP news release.

She crossed the centre line and collided with the oncoming truck.

Golden RCMP and the BC Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m., May 23, 20 kilometres east of the Rogers Pass Visitor Centre. Paramedics also attended the scene, while investigators reconstructed the collision and closed the highway for several hours.

The 44-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the pickup truck was injured, but is expected to recover.

Police continue to investigate the collision.
