Okanagan gas station completely out of fuel and it’s not the only one
The owner of a Keremeos gas station says it is completely dry and won’t be getting any more until tonight.
“We’re out and a lot of other places are out as well in Princeton and Osoyoos, all over the Okanagan, I’m hearing,” said owner Jagdeep Sumal with Keremeos Fas Gas.
“I’m out of everything."
It isn’t common for multiple gas stations to run out of gas at once, but a site may run out of gas here and there. “I think they’re having logistics issues in Kamloops,” he said.
“There’s a lot of traffic and a lot of demand for fuel but not a lot out there right now."
Some Esso and Mobile gas stations ran short of fuel at their pumps in the Okanagan and Kamloops earlier this week but Imperial Oil said that was due to an ethanol shortage at the Suncor terminal in Kamloops. It has a "fuelling agreement" with Suncor for the region.
“Our ethanol supply chain has improved over the past few days and deliveries restarted from the terminal (Monday),” Keri Scobie, manager of public and government affairs for Imperial Oil, said in an email to iNFOnews.ca, June 28. “Our current supply outlook is that our inventories will be back to regular levels early to mid-next week.”
Gas supply shortages have been reported at multiple locations throughout the region.
Sumal said there’s been an issue with terminal loading racks, where the fuel is loaded from, in Kamloops so companies have to source the fuel from other locations in Burnaby and Alberta, causing longer turnaround times for fuel, coupled with increased demand due to Canada Day weekend traffic.
