The Kelowna RCMP have arrested a man after he allegedly jumped into a couple's vehicle while naked and then stole it.

Yesterday, May 28, at roughly 6:40 p.m., the RCMP received a report of a vehicle theft near Kelowna's Apple Bowl Stadium on 1555 Burtch Rd.

A man and his wife were sitting in their vehicle when a naked and intoxicated man opened their unlocked truck hatch, jumped in and told them to drive, according to the RCMP's press release.

The couple was frightened and drove a block to the Harvey Avenue and Burtch Street intersection before exiting the vehicle. The man then jumped into the driver's seat and drove away.

The vehicle was located approximately 45 minutes later after the man abandoned it, ran through a yard and tried to flag down another vehicle, according to the RCMP.

Police officers flooded the area and were able to find and arrest him without incident, according to the press release.

The investigation is still ongoing but it’s anticipated that he will face multiple charges including possession of stolen property, according to the RCMP.

The vehicle was undamaged and returned to its owner along with their personal property.
