A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed while passing a vehicle on a double solid along Highway 6 east of Vernon Monday night.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash at around 10 p.m. June 10, on Highway 6 east of Aberdeen Road in Coldstream, according to an RCMP media release.

The motorcyclist was travelling west on the highway when he passed a vehicle on the double solid lines and failed to negotiate the corner, RCMP said. The rider was ejected from the bike when it went down an embankment.

“As a result of the impact, the man sustained fatal injuries and was deceased on scene,” Vernon RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Tania Finn said in the release.

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating. The identity of the motorcyclist hasn’t been released.
