Kelowna RCMP nab prolific offender driving while under house arrest
A prolific offender is back in custody after Kelowna RCMP officers noticed the man was driving a vehicle which mismatched licence plates.
In the early afternoon of Dec. 7, police noticed the well-known prolific offender driving south on Highway 97 in Lake Country.
According to a Kelowna RCMP media release issued today, Dec. 16, the suspect was supposed to be under 24-hour house arrest and was prohibited from being in the driver's seat of a motor vehicle. He is also banned from driving in B.C.
Kelowna police didn't follow the driver but along with a police dog service crew simply set up outside the prolific offender's residence in the 800 block of Bullock Road.
An hour after he was first spotted driving he returned home and while he was trying to remove the stolen licence plates from the vehicle he was arrested.
"This outstanding coordination between the various RCMP units including, Lake Country General Duty, the Police Dog Service and the Prolific Offenders Unit along with the RCMP dispatch operators relaying information allowed for a quick arrest to place a known offender back before the courts," Kelowna RCMP Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release.
Court records show Daniel Jay Anderson, born 1980, was charged with theft under $5,000, driving while prohibited, and two breaches of a release order. He remains in custody.
