There was a snowfall warning in effect for the Coquihalla earlier today, Dec. 31.

“The snow is expected to ease this afternoon as the low weakens,” Environment Canada reported, before ending the warning at 12:23 p.m.

DriveB.C. is reporting that Highway 3 has reopened in both directions after a vehicle incident at Whipsaw Creek Road, west of Princeton.

Highway 1 has reopened west of Revelstoke after it was closed due to avalanche hazard.

On Highway 1 there is also limited visibility due to fog from Spences Bridge to Cache Creek; Highway 5 has compact snow from Kamloops to Barriere; Highway 97C has compact snow from Merritt to West Kelowna; and Highway 97D has slippery sections throughout.

Looking at weather, Kamloops will high of 3 Celsius and low of 0. Vernon will see a high of 2 C and low of -1 C. Kelowna is in for a high of 3 C and low of -1 C. And Penticton will get a high of 3 C and low of 1 C. There is a chance of flurries this morning throughout the region.

At the ski hills, Big White Mountain Resort is reporting 9 centimetres of new snow and 54 cm over the past week. There has been 9 cm at Sun Peaks Ski Resort since yesterday and 50 cm over the past week; SilverStar Mountain Resort got 5 cm on Dec. 28 and is expecting 5 cm today; and Apex Mountain Resort is reporting 3 cm of new snow and 47 cm over the past week.
