Impaired driver parks on West Kelowna Superstore's sidewalk, police respond
An alleged impaired driver who parked on the sidewalk in front of West Kelowna's Superstore has had their license suspended.
West Kelowna police officers responded to complaints, Oct. 9 at roughly 9 p.m., that the driver had parked their vehicle at the front entrance of the store before going shopping.
"The bizarre parking job and the manoeuvre caused safety concerns for clients and pedestrians in the area," said Cpl. Judith Bertrand, media relations officer with the West Kelowna RCMP, in a press release.
Police officers identified the driver when they returned to their vehicle, and it was determined that the driver was allegedly impaired by drugs.
The vehicle was impounded, the driver was fined and their driver license was suspended, according to the RCMP.
In the last five days, West Kelowna RCMP officers have identified 11 impaired drivers and served driving prohibition notices and impounded their vehicles. Most of the incidents were found by police officers on patrol during the Thanksgiving long weekend, according to the RCMP.
