Police are investigating a fatal collision involving two cars and a semi truck in Keremeos.

Keremeos RCMP, BC Highway Patrol and other first responders received a report about a serious collision on Highway 3 near Becks Road at 11:30 a.m. on July 10, according to a release from RCMP.

In one of the vehicles there were four adults who were part of an extended family who were found dead at the scene of the crash.

The people in the other two vehicles are uninjured.

“This is a terrible tragedy. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” South Okanagan RCMP Sgt. Jason Bayda said in the release. “Our thoughts are also with the first responders and members of the public impacted by this incident.”

The highway was closed for about eight hours while first responders were on the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation so police are not releasing more details at this time.

RCMP want to remind the public to drive safely.

“During this time of year, we see a significant increase of traffic incidents on our roadways. Police are reminding everyone to slow down and remain alert to your surroundings,” Sgt. Bayda said.
