Driver who crashed into Lake Country pet store won't be charged
A compact SUV crashed into a pet shop in Lake Country on the weekend.
It happened shortly after noon on Saturday, April 15, according to an RCMP media release. The driver of the Mazda CX5 drove through the door of Bosley’s on Main Street. The driver then backed out and waited there for police to arrive.
The building evacuated due to safety concerns, RCMP said.
“After speaking with the driver of the vehicle, RCMP can confirm they accidentally pressed the gas pedal rather than the brake pedal,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release.
“The acceleration forced the car to hop the curb and strike the door causing extensive damage. We are extremely thankful no one was injured.”
The driver, as well as Bosley’s staffers and a customer, were all uninjured. The damaged vehicle was towed away.
RCMP won't be charging the driver.
