A Vernon man who was involved in a fatal collision on the August long weekend is now facing six criminal charges.

Michael Rodine, 36, has been charged after two grandparents visiting from Vancouver were killed in an automobile collision, according to a release from the Vernon RCMP.

The crash occurred during the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 5, on Highway 97 near the Vernon Army Camp.

Rodine is facing two counts each of criminal negligence causing death, impaired driving causing death and impaired driving over 0.08 causing death. He is due in court for his first appearance on Sept. 7.
