Another round of heavy snow expected on Coquihalla Highway
Winter won’t give up its icy grip on the Coquihalla Highway.
On the first day of meteorological spring, Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Highway 5 from Merritt to Hope.
A Pacific frontal system is moving in from the north bringing with it heavy snow.
The weather office says the snow will begin this afternoon, March 1, and intensify early Thursday morning before turning to flurries by the afternoon.
The weather system is expect to drop 15 to 25 centimetres of snow.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” the snowfall warning says. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
