Well-known Kamloops guitar shop to be replaced by five-storey condo
A well-known Kamloops music shop may soon be the site of a five-storey condo building.
Lee's Music and Riversong Guitars are currently on Battle Street and while the future of the businesses isn't clear, the current building won't stand much longer.
Kamloops city council approved the redevelopment of the 1305 Battle Street property into a 20-unit condo building, Feb. 6.
The store has been around for years, with the location doubling as a music store and headquarters for the guitar manufacturing side of the business.
Owner Mike Miltimore, whose father Lee originally owned the store, was not available to comment on his plans for the store location as the site is prepared for eventual redevelopment.
The Vernon Morning Star reported last year that Miltimore is moving the Riversong Guitars manufacturing to a new location in Sicamous.
Now that council has approved the development permit, the builder has two years to start the work before it expires.
The new condo will be a strata building, with five commercial lots on the ground floor, according to a City report.
