The City of Kelowna has a new interactive tool that allows people to look at how the city is growing.

The tool shows the status of downtown highrises, whether a development application has been submitted or approved or a building permit issued.

It’s three dimensional and allows a user to zoom down to ground level, view the image from different angles, zoom out for a bigger view or type in a specific address.

There’s even a setting that shows how shadows from the highrise structures will be cast through the day.

“The city’s GIS team is excited to launch the initial version of a new 3D Viewer that will provide citizens with new tools to explore upcoming developments in Kelowna,” the city said in a Facebook post earlier this week.

“It will allow you to explore and visualize changes in real time to elevation profiles, lines of sight and much more.

The viewer can be accessed here.
