Rental rates for one-bedroom apartments in Kelowna climbed another $60 in October to $1,960, the fifth highest in Canada.

That’s a 3.2% increase from September and a 17.4% increase over October 2021, according to data released today, Nov. 15, by online rental site Zumper.com.

It’s still cheaper than three other B.C. cities with Victoria and Burnaby tied for third at $2,100.

Toronto is the only non-B.C. city in the top five at $2,130 and Vancouver tops the list at $2,500 for a one-bedroom apartment.

For a two-bedroom apartment, the rent in Kelowna climbed a mere 0.4% to $2,410. In Vancouver, a two-bedroom apartment rents for $3,500.

Out of the 24 cities on the Zumper.com list, St. John’s, NL, had the lowest rent at $890 for one bedroom.

Kamloops is not included on the Zumper.com list because it had only eight listings. In a separate report, Zumper.com said rent for a one-bedroom apartment went up by 4% to $1,649 and two bedrooms fell 7% to $2,010.
