A proposed six-story, 171-unit apartment building could change the look of Harvey Avenue near downtown Kelowna.

An application was posted on the City of Kelowna’s website today, April 14, that asks to consolidate six lots on Highway 97 and Saucier Avenue, which parallels the Highway 97 (Harvey Avenue) to the south.

The land is between Richter and Ethel Streets and includes houses in the 100-year-old range and face the highway.

The development permit application — filed by Westrich Pacific Corp. — shows most of the units, 128, are to be two bedroom suites. There are 14 three-bedroom units, 12 one-bedroom units, 14 studio suites and three townhouses in the plans.

The company proposes to provide 192 parking spots for vehicles based on city standards for rental units, and 157 bicycle parking stalls of which 131 are long-term.
