Lake Country loses title for most expensive home for sale in Canada
For the last couple of years the Waterside Farm on Pixton Road in Lake Country was the most expensive home posted on real estate listings in the country.
The $55-million asking price in January 2021 has now dropped to $45,880,000 for a home currently assessed at $7.8 million. It sprawls over 20,306 sq. ft. with a 4,163 sq. ft. guest wing and a 1,820 sq. ft. caretaker's residence, five bedrooms and 12 bathrooms on five acres along Okanagan Lake.
Lowering the asking price didn't drop it out of the number one spot.

The title now goes to a $59.8 million, 12,410 sq. ft. house with five bedrooms and eight bathrooms at 4838 Belmont Ave. in the Point Grey area of Vancouver.
It comes with an Italian marble floor, an elevator, 1,404 sq. ft. patio. spacious master bedroom with an Italian walk-in closet, marble bathroom and den, wine cellar, gym and more, according to the listing by Josephine Kwok of Macdonald Realty.
BC Assessment shows that sits on 0.856 acres of land and assessed it at almost $39 million, with the buildings being worth $24.6 million.
The home takes the top ranking in Piont2Homes' ‘Uber Luxury, Mega Mansions and Stellar Amenities: Canada’s Most Expensive Homes for Sale Promise (and Deliver) the World.’ That lists the most expensive listings in each province and in the country’s 25 largest cities.
Since Waterside Farm is in Lake Country, it would never make a largest cities list and even Kelowna is not included. That makes it hard to tell for sure whether Waterside Farm holds the number two spot in Canada but it's likely.
The second most expensive home in Vancouver is just down the street from the Point Grey mansion at 4788 Belmont Ave., according to REW, a Glacier Media real estate site.
It’s listed by the Sutton Group/West Coast Realty for $33,888,000. It has seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms more than 10,548 sq. ft.
REW for Vancouver Island lists a 338-acre farm with 98,000 sq. ft. of buildings near Campbell River as the most expensive home on Vancouver Island so, Waterside Farm is likely number two in the province and the country.
The Point2Homes report lists a $35 million, 8,758 sq. ft., eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom homes on Bloor Street in Toronto as the most expensive property for sale in that province.
Quebec ranks third with a $29 million, 18,800 sq. ft., six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home in Lac-Tremblant-Nord.
The top ranking home in Alberta, and the fourth highest amongst Canada’s 10 provinces, comes in at $13.95 million for 7,336 sq. ft, seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms in Rocky View Country, just outside Calgary’s northwest boundary.
The Vancouver listing may not remain as the most expensive in the country for long.
A Whistler house, listed for $39 million, sold in July for $32 million.
John Ryan, the agent representing the buyer, told CTV News there's one home being built for more than $60 million and another one in the $100 million range in Whistler.
