Don't put your garbage cart on the snowbank in Central Okanagan
In the wake of the most recent snow storm to hit the Central Okanagan and more to come, residents are being asked to be patient in regards to waste collection.
"If your garbage, yard waste or recycling collection is missed on your regular collection day, please leave your carts out until collection occurs," the Central Okanagan Regional District said.
"Place your carts as close to the street as possible, without blocking the street, sidewalk or bike lanes or impeding snow ploughs. Carts should not be located behind or on top of snowbanks and should be at least three feet from any obstacle or parked vehicle."
The regional district adds that yard waste collection is in effect until the end of December and is reminding residents that, with the cold weather, it becomes a challenge to empty the carts if they're packed too tight.
"So, it’s important especially at this time of year where freezing is common, to keep it loose," the regional district said.
