Two men arrested after traffic stop in Enderby
A traffic stop late last night in Enderby led to two arrests by RCMP.
Around 10:20 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 21, an RCMP officer pulled over a vehicle for driving infraction, according to an RCMP media release. It's not clear what exactly the vehicle was doing that caught the officer’s attention.
The officer was on patrol in Enderby when they stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 97A and Fortune Road.
The driver was detained after police checks showed that he was prohibited from driving. On top of that, the plates on the vehicle did not match and there was no valid insurance.
While the officer was dealing with the driver, the passenger leapt from the car and tried to flee on foot, RCMP said. However, he didn’t make it far and was easily taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
The driver was issued multiple violations tickets and has since been released from custody pending a court appearance at a later, unconfirmed date.
The passenger, a 51 year-old man from Enderby, remains in custody on warrants and is expected to appear in court later today.
