Two killed in sports car crash at Area 27 private racetrack in Oliver
Two people were killed in a crash on the Area 27 luxury motorsports club racetrack in Oliver on Wednesday.
Police were called to the Area 27 racetrack after a crash at 5:30 p.m. on June 5, according to an RCMP press release.
The crash happened during a private event when the driver of a sports car failed to make a turn in the course and ran into a cement barrier at high speed.
“Tragically, both the driver and passenger succumbed to injuries they sustained,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said in the release.
“Criminality is not believed to be a factor, and the matter is now being investigated by the BC Coroner Service.”
RCMP are not releasing any more information to the public about the crash including the identities of the people killed.
