Stolen truck driver flees from police and crashes in Vernon
A man is in custody after making a dangerous escape attempt when police confronted him in a stolen pickup truck in Vernon.
A Vernon RCMP officer tried to pull over a black pickup truck near 34 Street and 48 Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on April 2, according to a press release from police.
As soon as the officer initiated the stop the pickup truck sped off ignoring police.
While the driver was trying to escape he ran a red light and crashed into another car at 48 Avenue and 27 Street.
The driver and the passenger of the stolen truck were arrested without any further incident.
The driver of the second car was transported for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The 37-year-old Vernon man who was driving the pickup was arrested and is still in custody as police continue to investigate.
