The Area 27 racetrack in the South Okanagan has built an all-new terrain track and it will be open to the pubic soon.

Oliver's Area 27 has dubbed the new off-road track the Birds of Prey off-road circuit.

The course will be used for the new ZR2 Off-Road Academy. The Academy will be available to all Area 27 members and members of the public similar to the track’s Camaro Driving Academy. The current fleet of SS, ZL1 1LE Camaros and support vehicles will be joined by nine new trucks to support the new extension.

Those interested in the off-road experience will have to wait until Sept. 20, to get access to the program. Until then, a waitlist on Area 27’s website has been made available for those wanting to reserve a spot. The half-day introductory experience should cost under $400 per participant and will be composed of less than 14-person groups.

The off-road academy will allow participants to learn about off-roading techniques in a safe and controlled environment behind the wheel of Chevrolet’s 2023 Silverado and Colorado ZR2 editions.

The circuit is built to help drivers discover all the trucks have to offer. The built-in obstacles and challenges will help drivers develop their off-roading techniques.

The obstacles and challenges range from fallen tree crossing, loose gravel and riverbed rock crawl terrains, to a side hill angle test and a steep hill climb where drivers will learn about breakover and descent techniques.

Different routes at different skill levels will be available.
