A snowfall alert has been issued today, Dec. 3. Heavy snow is expected to continue all day potentially causing dangerous driving conditions on the Coquihalla and Trans-Canada highways.

The Coquihalla Highway between Merritt and Hope and Trans-Canada Highway between Rogers Pass and Eagle Pass are expected to get 10-15 cm throughout the day.

A Pacific frontal system is arriving over B.C. this morning causing dangerous driving conditions in many parts of the province. Lower elevation areas may end up with slippery conditions with rain falling on top of the snow.

“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” Environment Canada said in the alert.

Snowfall and dangerous driving conditions are expected to continue overnight and tomorrow.

Big White Resort in Kelowna is expecting 4-8 cm today.

Sun Peaks Resort in Kamloops is expecting 3 cm today.
