Salmon Arm RCMP arrest man with stolen $6,000 mountain bike
An off-duty RCMP officer spotted a stolen bike in Salmon Arm which led to a man’s arrest and the bike’s recovery.
A man reported his $6000 Santa Cruz mountain bike was stolen after he left it unsecured outside an office building in the 800-block of 16 Street NE on June 5, according to a press release from police.
When officers investigated the theft they found no witnesses, but the owner provided photos of his bike.
An off-duty officer was on a walk on June 7 when we saw a man riding the stolen Santa Cruz bike. The officer contacted on-duty members and followed the stolen bike until the uniformed officers arrived.
Police arrived and arrested a 55-year-old man for possession of stolen property over $5000, and he was released with a future court date. Police returned the bike to its rightful owner.

Our members take great pride in the work they do, and the community they live and serve in,” Const. Andrew Hodges said in the release.
