Kamloops RCMP have reopened the road where a pedestrian was struck by a train this morning, but officers haven’t been able to find the person who was hit.

RCMP received a report that someone was hit by a train near Landsdowne Street and 2 Avenue this morning at 8:20 a.m., Oct. 1, according to a press release from police.

“The road reopened, but the investigation is still ongoing,” Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release. “Police Dog Services and a drone were used to locate the person struck; however, no one was located during an extensive search along the tracks.”

There’s a large police presence on the scene and RCMP officers are investigating with Canadian Pacific Kansas City police.

RCMP are not releasing more details of the incident and have asked the public to avoid the area until first responders have cleared.
