The Salmon Arm RCMP is seeking the public’s help in the wake of a hit and run.

On Dec. 8, at 7:59 p.m., officers were dispatched after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle, according to an RCMP release.

The vehicle had been travelling westbound on 5 Avenue SW and struck the victim at 3 Street SW. The pedestrian was a woman in her forties and she was transported to a hospital by ambulance with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Video showed the incident occurred between 7:49 p.m. and 7:52 p.m. on 5 Avenue SW. The vehicle that struck the woman did not appear to slow down after the collision and, after the collision, apparently turned south onto 5 Street SW.

“The vehicle was described as a light-coloured four-door car or station wagon. Police are actively seeking any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, that may have seen the described vehicle with front end damage in that area around 7:52 p.m. on Dec. 8,” Const. Andrew Hodges, Salmon Arm RCMP spokesperson, said in the release.

“Police are canvassing nearby businesses for further video evidence, but are hopeful someone in the area witnessed or captured video of the suspect vehicle to help further this investigation.”

Video surveillance allowed to obtain two picture of the car as seen above and are still looking for more information or video footage of the incident and the vehicle. Anyone in possession of such footage should contact the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044 and reference file 2023-7627.
