Some of the Okanagan's best waterfront parking spaces are in Peachland where there are several kilometres of free parking spaces that offer panoramic views of the lake and landscape. 

But anyone who wants to have a sleepover in their RV in those public parking spaces is being reminded by the local government that they’re not allowed to.

Spending the night on Beach Avenue in recreational vehicles, campers, commercial vehicles and trailers violates the local bylaw.

“After such a wonderful day on the beach, it’s tempting to just stay, we get it, but Beach Avenue is open for everyone," the District of Peachland said in a news release.

The District is warning bylaw officers will be targeting overnight parking on Beach Avenue from now until the end of September, along with “other problem areas” like the lots on Second Street and at the Peachland Community Centre.

Vacationers used to be able to go to Todd's RV and Camping. It was located on Beach Avenue for 66 years but closed for good after last season to make way for 42 luxury condos.

Elsewhere in the Okanagan, unwanted RV parking also became an issue in Vernon, where over a dozen RVs were parked on 25th Avenue last summer.
