RCMP have reopened the Overlanders Bridge in Kamloops to vehicles and pedestrians after an hour long closure due to a gun report.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a report about a man with a long gun around 2 p.m. today, April 11, in the area of Tranquille Road and Fortune Drive today, April 11, according to a press release.

The bridge was closed for roughly an hour as police investigated. The bridge is now open again but the investigation is ongoing. 

RCMP describe the suspect as a Caucasian male who was wearing a backwards ball cap and a blue shirt.

“No one was located in the area matching the suspect’s description and no further reports have been received.” Kamloops RCMP media liaison officer Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
