Ontario man killed in head-on crash with semi near Revelstoke
The B.C. Highway Patrol is hoping to speak with witnesses and get dash cam footage of the moments leading up to a fatal head-on collision east of Revelstoke.
The crash happened 47 kilometres east of Revelstoke on Highway 1 in Glacier National Park around 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, according to an RCMP media release.
A 55-year-old man died when the white 2021 Toyota Camry he was driving crossed the centre line of the highway for reasons unknown, and struck a white 2019 Freightliner tractor trailer head on.
The driver's 20-year-old son was in the passenger seat and was taken to hospital via helicopter, RCMP said. He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and is now in stable condition.
The father and son are both from Ontario.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a 48-year-old man from Alberta, was uninjured.
The Trans-Canada Highway was closed in both directions for approximately 10 hours as a result of the collision.
