One dead in Highway 97 crash between Vernon and Kamloops
A Vernon man died after a crash on Highway 97 between Vernon and Kamloops last night.
Vernon RCMP were called to the crash near Tonasket Road around 8:20 p.m. on July 7, according to a RCMP press release.
Investigators determined that a Subaru was heading north when it crossed the centre line and crashed with a southbound Mercedes.
The Subaru driver, a 36-year-old Vernon man, was extricated and taken to hospital, but he died from his injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle.
The Mercedes driver had non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours for emergency crews to work and for police to investigate.
The identities of those in the crash have not been revealed.
