Motorcyclist killed in collision near Kamloops
A motorcycle collided with a van and trailer on Highway 1 west of Kamloops, killing the motorcyclist.
The rider was a man in his 80s from the Kamloops area, according to a B.C. Highway Patrol news release.
First responders, including Kamloops Rural RCMP, responded to Cherry Creek near Rodeo Drive around 4:50 p.m., Aug. 30, closing the highway for about seven hours.
As investigators collected evidence and removed the wreckage, they determined a van pulling a trailer turned onto the highway from Rodeo Drive, into the path of the eastbound motorcycle.
B.C. Highway Patrol added, however, that the cause of the fatal collision is still under investigation and "nothing has been ruled out."
The driver of the van, an East Kootenay man in his 70s, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Police continue to investigate with assistance from collision analysts and the B.C. Coroners Service.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact B.C. Highway Patrol Kamloops at 250-828-3111.
