More snow on the way for Interior highways
Environment Canada has issued a warning for drivers along Interior highways this morning as more snow is expected to fall.
"The upper trough pattern will continue to give periods of snow to elevated highway passes today and tonight. Snow will taper off by Sunday morning as a ridge of high pressure moves to British Columbia. The next system will arrive Sunday night to Monday morning," according to the agency's weather statement.
A weather alert is in effect for the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt, Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton and the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.
Highway 5 was already closed earlier today after two tractor trailers blocked both directions and delays were also reported along Highway 3 near Manning Park due to a vehicle incident.
Winter tires or chains are required on most roads in B.C. starting Oct. 1 and have to remain on vehicles until March 31, with some highways in the province requiring them until April 30.
