A man in a mobility scooter was hit by a semi-truck in Vernon on Tuesday.

The man was already being helped by bystanders when emergency crews got to the scene around 11 a.m., Aug. 1.

He was trying to cross the 25 Avenue and 34 Street intersection downtown, when a commercial truck hit him while turning right, according to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP news release.

The man's injuries were non-life-threatening and he was taken to hospital by paramedics.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and he's cooperating with the investigation, but police are looking to the public for witnesses that haven't spoken with investigators yet.
