Kelowna cops seize weapons, drugs, cash during arrest of erratic driver
Kelowna police officers recovered a stolen handgun, drugs and cash during a traffic stop last week while two suspects were arrested.
A Chrysler 300 was pulled over at 2 a.m., May 10, on Baron Road in Kelowna because it was being driven erratically, according to an RCMP.
Officers seized over 210 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 24 grams of suspected cocaine and 11 grams of suspected fentanyl, police said.
The 42-year-old female driver and 41-year-old male passenger were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
“Officers also seized a loaded handgun as well as a replica handgun, an undisclosed amount of cash, tools and a catalytic converter,” Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Tammy Lobb said in the release. “The investigation has determined the loaded firearm was stolen from a residence in Kelowna in 2021."
The driver was released without charges and the passenger was released to appear in court at a later date. The passenger is possibly facing charges related to his arrest.
