An alert truck driver had to cross the centre line of the Trans-Canada Highway in order to avoid a head-on crash near Sicamous.

The near-miss was captured by the driver's dashcam and was shared to Skilled Truckers Canada – a Facebook page that highlights the risks of driving.

It happened on the evening of Oct. 25, according to an emailed statement from Skilled Truckers Canada.

The driver recording the video was travelling eastbound on a two-lane portion of Highway 1. He had to swerve onto the other side of the road when a westbound transport truck came traveling straight towards him. The close call unfolded in a matter of seconds.

The headlights reflecting off the road indicate conditions were wet.

The other truck went into the ditch and the driver was OK, a spokesperson for Skilled Truckers said.

An officer with Sicamous RCMP said they don't have a file related to the incident.
