Freezing rain and snow are expected in the Thompson-Okanagan
Here comes winter.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for this Thursday for snow and freezing rain in certain areas of the Thompson-Okanagan.
On Thursday, Nov. 2, the expected snowfall of five to 10 cm will affect driving conditions on the Trans-Canada Highway from the Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass. The freezing rain should affect the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Kamloops and the Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna.
These weather conditions might result in slippery and icy road conditions as well as power outages.
The weather will be felt in the North Okanagan, Salmon Arm, South Thompson, Nicola, and surrounding areas.
Winter tires have been mandated to drive on the above highways since Oct. 1, 2023, and these weather predictions are expected to result in winter driving conditions.
