A motorcyclist died after a collision with a transport truck in West Kelowna and a section of Highway 97 remains closed.

The crash happened this morning, Oct. 3, near Grizzly Road on Highway 97. Paramedics found the motorcyclist dead at the scene, according to a press release from RCMP.

The truck was transporting a crane, and the truck driver stayed at the scene and is fully cooperating with police.

Police don’t suspect any criminality at this point, and the investigation is ongoing.

The highway is closed northbound between Gellatly Road and Daimler Drive, according to DriveBC.

A detour is in effect but RCMP are asking people to avoid the area if possible.

An accident reconstructionist has been called to help with the investigation, and RCMP said it is not releasing more information at this time.
