A 19-year-old man was struck by a vehicle in Penticton and the driver allegedly fled the scene last night.

RCMP officers responded to the hit and run at around 8:15 p.m. yesterday, March 8, in a parking lot at 2050 Main Street, according to an RCMP media release.

“The driver of the vehicle fled the scene with no apparent attempt to assist the victim,” the release says.

In addition to police, members of B.C. Ambulance and the Penticton Fire Department responded.

The man was treated at the scene for his injuries and taken to the hospital.

The parking lot was cordoned off for several hours while investigators, including members of the RCMP Collision Analyst, gathered evidence.

RCMP describe the driver as a south Asian male with short black hair. The suspect vehicle is described a grey four-door sedan, which will have damage on its driver’s side window and possibly the windshield and quite lot to the ground.

If anyone witnessed the collision, or has dash cam footage of the incident, contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
