Example Feeding Plan for a 6-12 month old

6:30 a.m.

Wake up, nurse.

7 a.m. Breakfast

You offer oatmeal and fruit.

Baby prefers mystery crumbs from last night’s dinner.

9 a.m. Snack

You offer half a banana and plain yogurt.

Baby accepts the banana, but attempts to ingest it through his eyeball. Applies the yogurt liberally as a face mask.

9:15 a.m.

Fistful of cat hair, bit of lint.

Mid morning:

Nurse three more times between breakfast and lunch.

11 a.m.

Front page of Goodnight Moon

12 p.m. Lunch

You offer steamed broccoli, roasted sweet potato wedges and grated cheese.

Baby demands the cheese, wears the broccoli.

You eat the sweet potato fries.

12:15 p.m.

Nurse, nap.

2 p.m. Snack

You offer avocado and mashed beans.

Baby favors the Tupperware lid.

2:30 p.m.

Floor broccoli (a delicacy)

Mid-afternoon

Nurse two more times

3:30 p.m.

Tablespoon of dirt with a slice of pinecone.

5 p.m. Dinner

You offer minced steak, green peas and rice.

Baby offers his steak to the dog and wants yours instead. Eats three green peas, throws the rice off his tray.

5:30 p.m.

One square of toilet paper.

Evening/night

Nurse three more times before morning.

Repeat.
