Rental apartment buildings proposed on Clement Avenue in Kelowna
Kelowna city staff support the proposed rezoning of a residential area on Clement Avenue to allow for two large-scale apartment buildings to be constructed in their place.
The current zoning of the property is for duplex housing. City staff would like to see that change to an Apartment Housing Rental Only zone. That means that the land currently housing ten residential properties could soon become two large apartment buildings.
The property is located on Clement Avenue between Ethel Street and Richter Street, close to the Downtown Centre.
Most of the neighbourhood currently consists of single detached houses.
The suggested development aligns with Kelowna’s Official Community Plan, which seeks to build more low-rise apartments and stacked townhouses up to six storeys in height in Core Area Neighbourhoods near Transit Supportive Corridors.
The proposed development would see the 10 lots transformed into a 202 apartment units.
The buildings will be six storeys high and will cover 2,570 square metres of land.
