As summer transitions to fall, the Penticton region of BC offers a stunning backdrop for travellers looking to experience the season’s beauty. Explore Wine Country

Penticton is situated in one of BC’s very best wine regions, with over 80 wineries within a short drive. Fall is a great time to visit, as the grape leaves turn to gold, grapes are full and being harvested, and many wineries begin to sell their best vintages. Vineyard tours are perfect for Instagram-worthy group photos and picnics. Take in the vibrant fall colours as you sip on award-winning local wines. Many Naramata, Okanagan Falls, Penticton and Summerland wineries also host special harvest events, offering a blend of local food, wine, and entertainment. Even with the challenges of the 2024 low fruit yields (because of the January freeze) there are still many bottles of wine to try and buy! Tour companies like Vivid Tours offer a convenient way to visit a number of wineries without having to drive yourself.

Outdoor Adventures

For those who love the outdoors, fall in Penticton offers cooler weather perfect for hiking, biking, and exploring. The Kettle Valley Rail Trail can be accessed easily from downtown Penticton, and for cyclists and hikers there are breathtaking views of the region’s rolling hills and changing leaves. You might also consider a leisurely walk through Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park, known for its impressive rock formations and trails!

Fall Festivals and Events

Penticton comes alive with fall festivals that celebrate the season. The Penticton Farmers’ Market has been operating since 1991, showcasing fresh local produce, artisan goods, and live music. This year’s Fall Okanagan Wine Festival on October 26 and 27 happens at various venues, and is a celebration for wine enthusiasts to enjoy wine tastings, vineyard dinners, and educational seminars.
