A man moved into an apartment in Vancouver in 2020 to find the wine cooler was broken and his blinds were dirty and he’s been fighting his landlord in court ever since.

Azmairnin Jadavji moved into a $5,700 per month apartment and expected the luxurious amenities which come with such a price, according to a BC Court of Appeal decision.

Jadavji was dismayed when he realized the high-end wine cooler didn't work and the blinds had not been cleaned to his expectations.

Jadavji took his landlord, Jingjing Yin, to court for the first time in October 2020. The judge at the time decided in his favour and ordered Yin to replace the wine cooler and get the blinds cleaned.

“The issue of the wine cooler appears to have been of particular concern to the tenant,” the decision said.

Jadavji was dissatisfied even though the court made Yin pay him over $1,000, and replace the wine cooler.

“The tenant was of the view that the new wine cooler was not of comparable quality and that not all of the blinds had been cleaned,” the decision said.

The battle raged on in court until Sept. 8., when the appeal's court justices dismissed Jadavji’s case.
