Event Description

Join us at Kelowna Free Graze Lamb in Kelowna, BC for a farm tour, sheepskin tanning demo, and potluck social! We are a diversified livestock farm, approximately 36 acres a few minutes from downtown Kelowna operating an on-farm class A abattoir. A heritage house is on the property as well. The land is currently being donated to a land trust whereby it is to be held by the BC Foodlands Cooperative. We have formed a cooperative to manage the property when the donation to a trust takes place. Sheepskin Tanning: Come and find out about preserving skins through hand stretched alum tanning. We will walk you through the steps required to making your own sheepskin at home. Facilitated by Cecilia Hogan and Kevin Morin. This event is free and open to everyone! Children are welcome but please leave furry friends at home. Mark and Amber live in a heritage house on the property as well. The farming operation focuses on regenerative agricultural practices, such as rotational grazing, on farm composting and short circuit marketing. We operate a Class A abattoir for sheep, goats and poultry servicing many farmers in the area.
