Event Description

Enjoy a spooktacular multi-angle viewing experience as the groundbreaking 1925 silent horror film The Phantom of the Opera is paired with a dramatic score created by Montreal composer Gabriel Thibaudeau. Musicians of the Kamloops Symphony will perform the score along with the film, joined by soprano Magdalena How. Based on Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel, The Phantom of the Opera is a 1925 American silent horror film about a deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House, causing murder and mayhem in his attempts to make the woman he loves a star. The film remains famous to this day for star Lon Chaney’s ghastly, self-devised make-up. As part of his illustrious 30-year career as a silent film accompanist, Canadian composer Gabriel Thibaudeau penned a chilling new score to accompany the gothic tale of The Phantom of the Opera in 1990. Tune in ONLINE to access the performance via the web for $15 per person or $25 for a household pass. You can watch online until Nov 29th! Wanting a big screen experience? Grab a ticket to the 1:00pm or 4:00pm screenings on Sunday November 8 at the Paramount Theatre, in partnership with the Kamloops Film Society. For full details, visit kamloopssymphony.com.
