Event Description

An exciting afternoon out of a mixed program of dance: contemporary, neo-classical, jazz, hip hop, flamenco and many more styles of dance. To top off the dance performance there will be live music by Anna Jacyszyn Trio for all audience members to simply enjoy or dance to, plus a reception - all to top off the event! The dancers will also come out for the reception and share in the merriment of the food and music with us as we continue the fun. Lets all experience this special time of love and community altogether. Tanya Vadurova-Bakala is a two-time award winner and the producer/director of this innovative evening of love and dance and has a passion for making her dancers' dreams come true. She is also the founder and artistic director of Mission Dance Centre, now in its 16th year. The dancers, who will be featured in this performance will be those who are pursuing dance as a professional career and have toured to Toronto in February of 2019 to train with some of the most outstanding and leading Canadian professional dance artists. While In Toronto, these young talented Mission Dance artists had the opportunity to perform for artistic directors, choreographers, and directors of the Toronto post-secondary professional dance institutions. They performed in the styles of ballet, contemporary, flamenco, hip hop just to name a few. They were immersed in the study of ballet, pointe, repertoire, modern, contemporary, jazz, flamenco, jazz, and musical theatre at the following dance institutions: Pro Arte, School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Randolph Academy, Carmen Romero, Centennial College, Ballet Jorgen/George Brown College. The 13 selected MDC senior students who travelled to Toronto this year also had the opportunity to watch in-studio demonstrations and live stage performances of acclaimed professional dance companies such Ballet Jorgen and The National Ballet of Canada. This type of total immersion and performance exchange in the world of professional dance for the up and coming dance talents of Kelowna is a long time dream finally coming true for Tanya Vadurova-Bakala. The rest of the cast members performing in this unique event are enrolled in the contemporary/ballet pre-professional dance program at Mission Dance Centre & Company. Heart shaped cookies of all flavours decorated beautifully will be sold at the event as fundraising efforts for this talented group of dancers. Come dress up a little or a lot and share in the whole afternoon of inspiration, beauty, and pure joy of love! Saturday June 15th, 2019 2:00pm Evangel Church Auditorium
