Event Description

Fireweed Eco-Fest is an eco-arts festival welcoming writers, comedians, visual artists, musicians, and performers from the Okanagan Valley and across Canada for three days of high-calibre performance alongside socially conscious artistic creation in local, public parks. Come check out the work of Moozhan Ahmadazegan and Xiaoxuan Huang at the Woodhaven Eco Culture Centre and then join us for our first open mic of the season, with featured Calgary writer Sheri-D Wilson, hosted by Cole Mash and with an opening performance from Emmett MacMillen. This is a free outdoor event, rain or shine, so dress appropriately! Open Mic sign up begins promptly at 6:30pm. The venue is wheelchair accessible, with assistance from volunteers. There will be single user washrooms available on site. Parking is extremely limited (available at 4711 Raymer Road), so we encourage carpooling when possible! Fireweed Eco-Fest is made possible by the generous support of the City of Kelowna, the Province of British Columbia, the Regional District of the Central Okanagan, UBC Okanagan's Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies, Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union, Modo CarShare, Kelowna Brewing Company, and Summerhill Pyramid Winery. Inspired Word Café acknowledges that this festival is being held on the unceded ancestral lands of the Syilx Okanagan People. For more information, please visit https://www.syilx.org.
